Domaine de Beausejour Chinon 2005

Units:

Succulent, rich Chinon with lots of overt strawberries, raspberries and refreshing acidity. This is a welcome change from those Chinon that are all too often insipid and so light they're almost a cordial. It just shows that Cabernet Franc is capable of wines that have real depth (outside Bordeaux anyway).

The Chauveau family have been at the domaine since 1951 when Dr Jacques Chauveau bought a simple farm. His son, Gérard Chauveau, architect and town planner, inherited the property 17 years later and decided to try his hand at creating a modern, functional wine-growing estate, planting his first vines a year later.

Gérard built the family home that has been used 1978 and if you so desire you can visit the Chauveau's as they also run a bed and breakfast as well as making some very tasty wines! Nowadays it is Gérard's son David who looks after estate assisted by his mother.
